Spring: The Demand Surge (March-May)

Spring is the highest-demand season for IBC totes in the Midwest. Agricultural operations ramp up and need containers for fertilizers, herbicides, and seed treatments. Construction and landscaping businesses start new projects requiring water, concrete additives, and coating materials. Chemical manufacturers increase production after winter slowdowns. This demand surge typically pushes prices up 10 to 15 percent above annual averages and can reduce availability of popular sizes and grades.

Summer: Sustained High Demand (June-August)

Summer maintains strong demand, particularly for rainwater harvesting, agricultural irrigation, and food/beverage production. The used IBC supply also increases during summer as many businesses perform annual inventory turnover and liquidate excess containers. This increased supply partially offsets the high demand, keeping prices relatively stable compared to the spring peak.

Fall: The Buying Window (September-November)

Fall is generally the best time to buy IBC totes. Agricultural demand drops after harvest, construction slows as the weather turns, and many businesses conduct year-end inventory reductions that increase the supply of used containers. Prices typically drop 10 to 20 percent below spring peaks, and availability improves across all grades and sizes.

Winter: Low Demand, Variable Supply (December-February)

Winter is the slowest season for IBC sales in the Midwest. Demand drops significantly, but supply also decreases because fewer businesses are turning over containers. Pricing remains favorable but selection may be more limited than fall. This is a good time to buy if you can find the specific containers you need, but do not count on a wide selection.
